Principal's Report

April 2012

  • Staff spent part of Holy Thursday in retreat together. After a beautiful Stations of the Cross and a wonderful breakfast, teachers and staff prepared over two hundred lunches to feed the hungry from food they had donated to the cause. Half of the lunches were delivered to Dorothy’s Place and the remainder was delivered to Our Lady of Refuge Church in Castroville.

  • The week after Easter break has been very busy.  Fourteen of our physics students attended the Physics Olympics Competition at Hartnell College last Thursday.  Mr. Lee was very encouraged by the projects that students built for the event.

  • Students in Ms. Guido’s Human Anatomy class were dissecting sheep hearts this week.  Very interesting.

  • Mrs. Lewis had a very exciting guest speaker in her class on Thursday.  Ms. Katie Pohlhaf, the actress who is staring in the film, “Otter 501” spoke to our young women about otters, filmmaking, and stewardship.

  • A week of exciting ASB activities concluded with a highly successful rally last Friday, followed by Powder Puff football.  The Junior-Senior Prom was held on Saturday night at the Inter-Continental on Cannery Row.

  • Mrs. Marleny Roberts will be taking seven students to Mrs. Neff’s class at Sacred Heart School next Friday where they will share books they have written in Spanish.

  • Freshman students take the ACT Explore Test this week and sophomores take the ACT Plan.

  • Notre Dame will hold its spring musical, “A Spirited Revue” this Friday and Saturday.  The play is inspired by classic Broadway Musicals and Notre Dame traditions.  Performances will be at 7 p.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m.  Please come support our cast.

  • Advanced Placement testing begins in a few weeks.

  • Sister Barbara Matasci is scheduled to be the honored speaker at graduation on June 3.
