More than one hundred and forty father and daughter sports enthusiasts enjoyed an evening of outrageous fun at the annual Notre Dame High School Father Daughter Dinner Dance on February 23. The ASB officers designated this year’s theme as ESPND – (at Notre Dame) a night of sports.
The night kicked off with dads and daughters checking in at the Sport’s Table in the ND gym who were greeted by Activities Director, Peaches MacKenzie, the night’s referee. Dad and daughters were encouraged to dress to the theme so there appeared a plethora of sports jerseys that cover the gamut from favorite basketball and baseball teams (Go Giants!) to hockey and soccer teams, to name just a few.
But his event was more than just a dinner and dance. There was a huge array of games to be played, such as goldfish toss, ping-pong, bottle knockdown, and tee-ball challenge. Our very own ASB President and her dad dress as Ping and Pong as they challenged each other in aping-pong match.
In addition, no one went home hungry. The dinner menu included a self serve taco bar and for desserts everyone enjoyed cotton candy, hot popped popcorn, Jamba Juice drinks, and a variety of homemade baked goodies. Games and dancing continued throughout the night for all to enjoy. Thanks to many local community businesses, which provided donations, many dads and daughters won some fabulous raffle and silent auction prizes. Overall the night was a huge success with everyone filling their “Spirit Pride” totes bags will goodies and memorabilia. As one dad said as he was leaving with his daughter, “I can wait for next year. I had the best time ever and I enjoyed spending a great evening with my daughter.”
