Notre Dame Foundation

History
In the early 1980’s, a group of parents and friends of Notre Dame High School formed the Notre Dame High School Foundation, an independent charitable organization with the purpose of ensuring the financial support needed to continue the tradition of high quality education for young women. As a non-profit corporation, the Notre Dame High School Foundation helps provide the financial support necessary for academic scholarships, educational equipment for athletics, drama, technology and capital improvements.

The deadline to apply for a 2013-2014 scholarship has now past.

Huttenhoff Family Scholarship

As a means of acknowledging and expressing appreciation for the school's outstanding education, Robert and Patricia Huttenhoff created the Huttenhoff Family Scholarships, which assists motivated students to receive a quality education they might otherwise not be able to afford. Mr. Huttenhoff, himself, was a recipient of a scholarship and attributes much of his success to the higher education he received.

The Huttenhoffs established a Charitable Remainder Unitrust, designating the Huttenhoff Family Scholarship Funds with Notre Dame High School Foundation as the beneficiary.

The Huttenhoff Family Scholarships are based upon financial need.

Clem and Georgia Richardson Memorial Award

Clement George "Clem" Richardson was born in San Francisco in 1916, his wife Georgia Fanoe Richardson was born on the Fanoe Ranch in Gonzales in 1919. Clem attended St. Ignatius High School until his mother's sudden death at which time he lived with his older sister in Salinas, graduated from Salinas High and continued his education at Salinas Jr. College, Creighton University and graduated from Stanford University in 1940.

Georgia attended local Gonzales schools and graduated from Stanford University in 1941. Clem and Georgia were married a week before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. During WW II, Clem was a squadron leader of the 101 Airborne Division. Clem's plane was one of the first over Normandy Beach on D-Day. Following the war, he returned to Salinas and worked for the Sturdy Oil Company in Salinas.

Together, Clem and Georgia raised their five children: Ruth and Jeannie who were instructed by the Notre Dame Sisters at Palma High and graduated from Palma High School, Alice and Sheila who graduated from Notre Dame High School and Clem who graduated from Palma High School. For education, Clem and Georgia insisted their children attend Catholic schools and it was never a question of "if" they were going to college but "where". Their Catholic faith, family, education, a strong work ethic, and deep love of family and sports, (especially Stanford football and golf) were the corner of Clem and Georgia's life.

This award is based upon an outstanding grade point average and financial need.

The Georgia Richardson Memorial Award

This memorial scholarship is presented by the Notre Dame Foundation to a daughter, sibling or niece of a Notre Dame High School alumna. This award is only available to current juniors, sophomores and freshmen.  Applicants must have satisfactory conduct and be in good financial standing with the Notre Dame Business office. Financial aide is not a requirement for this scholarship.
