Dedication Ceremony Takes Place
The dedication of the newly renovated theatre occurred on May 19, 2011. The school used this historic opportunity to thank and recognize all who made the vision of creating a state-of-the-art performance center a reality: the trustees, donors, volunteers, friends, Associates and Affiliates, public officials and others.
The evening’s program opened with a welcome reception on the upper plaza of the theatre, where more than 230 guests enjoyed the festivities that included a formal blessing by Bishop Richard Garcia. The theatre doors officially opened with a ribbon cutting by Mayor Dennis Donohue and Sister Barbara Matasci. Guests were greeted by student ambassadors. Principal, Andy Bedell open the program, then invited Bishop Garcia to address the audience, followed by guest speakers, Salinas Mayor, Dennis Donohue, and Board President, Mark Campion. A special one-hour performance by the renown a cappella group, Overton closed the ceremony. The band Overtone, discovered and brought to America by Clint and Dina Eastwood, was featured on the movie soundtrack, Invictus, and has appeared on The Ellen Show, Lopez Tonight, and Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
The celebration was an inspirational event bringing all supporters together to mark this key milestone in The Transformation of Notre Dame High School Campaign.
