The Notre Dame board of trustees, operating under the guidance of the department of catholic schools and the superintendent of schools, and in conformity with the policies of the diocese of monterey, shall concern itself with planning and policy issues pertaining to the general excellence of Catholic education at Notre Dame High School.
Working in close collaboration with its administrative officer, the Principal, and hearing its many publics, this Board of Trustees shall formulate policies and plans that will enable the school to reach its agreed upon goals.
The Board of Trustees is responsible to the Bishop of Monterey for the formulation of strategic planning, policies and administration in the areas of academics, student affairs, faith community, business and development. The Board is also responsible for the evaluation of the Principal in conjunction with the Superintendent of Schools, the evaluation of the effectiveness of policies, plans, the school’s mission and Board operations. The Board is further charged with the oversight of financial operations and institutional advancement and development programs designed to attract students, quality instructors and financial resources.
The Board is made up of a minimum of eleven (11) and not more than nineteen (19) Trustees approved by the Bishop with a recommended categorical membership including parents (not more than 25 percent recommended); alumnae/parents of alumnae; leaders from the local civic, business and professional communities; and feeder school principals and area pastors. In addition, the Board shall include a representative from the Parents Club, Alumnae Association and Booster Club in the capacity of ex-officio members.
